Katrina Brown | Owner & Photographer
I am almost certain, that I came out of the womb with a camera in my hand. Okay, it may not have been quite that early that the photography obsession started, but we do have photos of me at around age two playing with film canisters.
I was roughly 7 or 8 years old when I got my first camera, and much like my camera today, it went everywhere with me. No idea what I took photos of back then, but I was hooked!
Fast forward to high school where I of course chose photography for my art electives. I learned to shoot black and white film and process both the film and my own prints in the wet lab.
In 1999, I started my freshman year at Lock Haven University having been recruited as a student athlete for their cross country and track & field teams. I enrolled as an undeclared major, not yet realizing that a career in the arts was my end goal.
After a failed attempt at becoming an early education teacher (thanks common core math), I switched majors to studio art, taking classes in photography and graphic design.
While at Lock Haven, I earned a spot as a photographer on the school newspaper staff, shooting portraits and sporting events.
After graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Studio Art, and no real success finding a job in photography, a friend asked me to shoot some candid shots at her wedding.
At the time wedding photography was still a bunch of men wearing tuxedos and dragging around a tripod and lighting setup, shooting only very formal images.
Friends and family of the bride and groom continued to mistake my images for the professional they had hired and eventually other friends asked me to shoot their weddings, as the main photographer.
Little by little I grew my skills and my business to what you see today.
In my personal time, I enjoy running half marathons and traveling the world. I am currently working on a challenge to run a half marathon in every state!
